Tohru Yamanaka
CEO, LOOVIC Inc.
Drawing on my experience raising a child who struggled to memorise spatial information, I have researched and developed a technology that provides subtle voice hints tailored to specific locations. This work is progressing with support from initiatives such as NEDO SBIR. When visiting a new place, anyone can become overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information and find it impossible to remember everything. My starting point was this question: could technology discreetly support those moments when someone nearby would naturally say, "This is how it works here"? Today, beyond outdoor guidance, it is utilised as on-site wisdom in areas where AI struggles to reach. This includes supporting the inheritance of artisan skills within factories and workshops, and providing unmanned, voice-based task assistance that supports procedures as if someone were standing beside you. In this Asahiyama Zoo pilot, facility staff place audio cues within the park's spaces. Visitors are then 'escorted unmanned, as if someone were standing beside them' via a podcast-style format. The aim is to share the zoo's attractions and educational offerings with more people, without relying solely on human staff.
